Worshipping God is an important part of who we are as a family
and as individual followers of Christ. Our family not enjoys worshipping
in the following ways:
- Singing in the congregation - It's exciting to be in the
congregation with 10s, 100s, even 1000s, lifting our hands and getting
lost in the Spirit of God.
- Singing in the choir - David and Michelle started singing in
the choir at Cedar Park after Easter in 1996. It was the first
time we had ever sung in a choir, but we enjoyed it so much that we
kept coming. At various times we've taken a break, but we always
returned. Bethany enjoys singing with the youth choir at Cedar
Park, called Impact Choir, and has even toured with them several years
in a row, traveling to California (2002), Vancouver (2003), and Chicago
(2004).
- Singing on the worship team - David has been privileged to be
invited to sing on the worship team at Cedar Park and to be part of
the regular schedule.
- Playing on the worship team - David has also been privileged
to play acoustic guitar on the worship team at Cedar Park. This
has allowed him to stretch and grow in his musical abilities as well
as contribute to the worship experience.
- Leading worship for kids - Once a month, David, Michelle,
Bethany, and Rebecca lead worship for Kids Church at Cedar Park.
David leads and plays acoustic guitar; Michelle sings, sometimes plays
electric guitar, and helps with actions; Bethany plays bass guitar and
sometimes sings; and Rebecca operates PowerPoint. We also
include friends who form a band including a drummer, a keyboard
player, a saxophone player, and several other singers.
- Leading worship for adults - Once in a while, we get the
opportunity to lead worship for adults. David has done this for
Celebrate Recovery on a number of occasions, and the whole band has
led on several Sunday evenings. One of our goals is to be able
to lead worship on a regular basis, either on a Sunday evening or even
on a Sunday morning (e.g. at Cedar Park Northshore).
- Leading worship on tour - When Catalyst tours with their
plays, we bring a worship team to 1/3 to ½ of our presentations.
This is an exciting time that requires us to recruit additional members
to run sound, setup, even sing or play in the band. It is exciting to
reach out in this way to other congregations.
